Contemporary Slovak Painting

A comprehensive illustrated publication exploring the development of contemporary Slovak
painting since 2000. The English edition of MAĽBA SK (2022) presents the work of 40 prominent
Slovak painters through 266 reproductions of their artworks.
The publication offers an overview of the diverse artistic approaches, painting practices and
visual strategies that have shaped the Slovak art scene over the past two decades.
Alphabetically arranged artist profiles are accompanied by essays written by leading art
historians, theorists and curators, placing their work within the broader context of
contemporary visual art.
Edited by Zora Rusinová, the book provides not only an extensive visual survey but also a
critical examination of contemporary Slovak painting. The English edition introduces Slovak
painting to an international audience of curators, gallerists, collectors, art professionals and
enthusiasts.
